The corner that upgrades every membership

Recovery services are fitness's fastest-growing revenue line - 12.4% a year through 2035 (FMI) - and 81.3% of all cold plunge tubs are bought by commercial facilities (Grand View Research). Your members already pay for recovery somewhere. The only question is whether it is at your address.

The membership math is simple and public: in the Fitness Premier case (US), a recovery-inclusive tier at about +$20/month was chosen by ~30% of new members. ClassPass logged +155% growth in sports-recovery bookings since 2024. Roughly 20% of members use recovery zones where they exist (Smart Health Clubs) - and they are your least churn-prone 20%, because recovery attaches to routine.

Three formats for three gym types

  • Strength & CrossFit boxes - two tubs by the showers, cold-first culture, per-session or tier pricing. Starter budget from Rp 220 juta.
  • Premium fitness clubs - glass-walled recovery room: 4-6 person sauna, two tubs, towel station - the tour stop that closes memberships. Rp 450-700 juta.
  • Boutique studios - one beautiful teak tub + compact 2-person sauna as the post-class ritual; small footprint, strong content engine.

Why gym duty kills home equipment

A home tub sees two dips a day; your peak hour sees eight sweaty members and a temperature that must not drift. That is why we rate for 16 h/day duty: commercial Harvia heaters, our own chillers holding ±0.3 °C under churn, filtration plus scheduled ozone, and surfaces chosen to be disinfected daily without dulling (terrazzo and stone shine here). The equipment detail lives on chillers and ice baths.

Programming sells the concrete: coaches prescribing a post-WOD 3-minute plunge convert casual curiosity into weekly habit. Protocol cards for different audiences are in the temperature guide, and the membership economics deep-dive is Recovery zones and gym retention.

What is the minimum viable recovery corner?

One tub + 1-2 HP chiller from ~Rp 90 juta installed, in 4 m² by the showers. Test demand per-session, then grow - power and drainage pre-planned for the end state.

Per-session or tier pricing?

Both work; tiers win long-term. Benchmark: ~30% uptake at +$20/month (Fitness Premier). Per-session Rp 50-150 ribu is the Bali/Jakarta range we see.

How do we keep water clean at peak load?

Mandatory rinse, cartridge filtration, scheduled ozone between sessions, and a change cadence tied to session count - all in the laminated SOP your staff get.

Does cold plunging actually help members recover?

Meta-analyses say cold and contrast reduce soreness vs passive rest (Bieuzen 2013; Machado 2016: 11-15 °C, 11-15 min). We link the studies in the contrast therapy guide - your trainers can quote them.

Will it survive our busiest Saturday?

That is the design load: 16 h/day rating and a chiller sized to your peak hour, not your average. Tell us Saturday's numbers and we size for them.
