Case - padel club

The dead corner that became the busiest queue in the club

A four-court padel club in Canggu had a 6 × 7 m concrete corner behind court four - storage for nets and a broken fridge. Ninety days after handover, it is the spot every match walks to.

The task

The owners wanted post-match revenue without losing a court's worth of space, and they wanted it before the peak season. Non-negotiables: players must see the zone from the bar (envy is marketing), hygiene must survive sweaty back-to-back sessions, and the build must not close the club.

The layout

We fenced the corner, kept the slab, and packed the programme tight: two teak double tubs facing the glass wall to court four, a 6-person cedar sauna against the back wall, a rinse shower at the entry (mandatory before water), towel rail, bench, and a bengkirai deck to tie it together. Both chillers sit outside the fence line where airflow is free and noise is nobody's problem.

What changed in 90 days

  • Recovery sessions sold from week one at Rp 100 ribu (walk-in) and bundled into a new premium membership tier.
  • Evening dwell time stretched visibly - the bar's post-match hour got longer, matching the pattern 57% of padel players already show (Deloitte: they stay for a drink; now they stay wet-haired and longer).
  • The zone became the club's top-performing social content - the gasp photo outperforms match highlights.
  • Staff run the whole protocol from the laminated SOP; our involvement since handover: two scheduled service visits.
Owner's one-liner

"We spent years arguing about a fifth court. The tubs cost a fraction of one and the members talk about nothing else."

The economics of the sector - why padel monetises recovery faster than any other venue - are in Padel's recovery boom and on the padel clubs page.

What did the club charge from day one?

Rp 100 ribu per walk-in protocol, free inside the premium tier. The desk sells it at booking checkout, which is where sore legs make decisions.

Why teak doubles instead of four singles?

Pairs plunge together after doubles matches - social cold is easier cold. Two doubles serve the same throughput as four singles with half the chillers.

Could this work in a smaller club?

Yes - the starter version (two barrels, no sauna) fits 3 × 4 m and starts around Rp 220 juta. See pricing.
